Making Sense of Microbiome Research: How to Read and Interpret Gut Microbiome Data
1 CPEU Pending
Presentation info:
Gut microbiota research is rapidly expanding, but interpreting the methods, statistical analyses, and figures presented in these studies can be challenging. This presentation will introduce registered dietitians to 16S rRNA gene sequencing and the statistical approaches commonly used to characterize microbial communities. Participants will learn how to interpret alpha diversity, beta diversity, taxonomic abundance, and common statistical outputs found in published microbiota research. Using examples from scientific studies, this session will help dietitians develop the skills and confidence to critically evaluate microbiota research findings and better understand what the results do—and do not—tell us.
